The results of a survey that shows that nine in ten university graduates leave Cyprus and are looking for a career in other countries so as to be able to implement what they studied in the university has raised concerns lately, DISY Vice President, Lefteris Christoforou stated.
At the same time, he expressed his concerns on the flight of excellent scientists abroad.
“Unfortunately, the government’s policies in the past few years, the lack of strategy and the non development of modern sectors such as innovation, technology and research led 9 in 10 university graduates to move to other countries. This is unprecedented and painful for a small country such as Cyprus, which needs its scientists to offer their services”, he said.
Also, he urged the government to prepare plans that will be able to absorb the new scientists of Cyprus, which have many to offer to the society and the economy.
