CNE Technology Center was invited at ICT 2010 as the Coordinator of the Energy Warden European project that aims at the development of tools for the management and control of renewable energy technologies, deployed in the building domain. Nine reputable research organizations and companies from seven countries participate in the project, which has a total budget of €4mil. and is financially supported (€2.7mil.) by the European Commission, DG INFSO, under the 7th Framework Programme (ICT).
One of CNE’s young researchers, Dr. Alessandro Giusti, has been awarded with a free entrance to the venue by the European Commission and selected to act as a reporter to one of the sessions (Mobilising ICT for Energy Efficiency) organized during the event. The researcher was the only representative of a Cyprus research organization among the about 40 selected young researchers from Europe. Young researchers had the opportunity not only to visit the exhibition, network and attend the organized sessions, but also to have dedicated meetings with key persons in the EU ICT sector, among which Ms. Neelie Kroes (Vice-President of the European Commission), Ms. Patricia Arsene (Research Programme Officer for the EU) and Mr. Andreas Schierenbeck (CEO of Siemens Building Automation).
The ICT 2010 conference took place in Brussels on 27-29 September 2010. ICT 2010 was organised by the European Commission and hosted by the Belgian Presidency of the European Union. Around 5.000 participants attended this event.
