Christodoulides took part in EPP mini-summit

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides participated at the summit of the European People's Party on Thursday morning, ahead of the summit of the European Council which was scheduled to start around noon with a working lunch of the 27 leaders with United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

Christodoulides participated in the customary summit of the EPP leaders after having been officially invited by the President of the political group, Manfred Weber, despite having been elected without the support of DISY, the EPP’s member party in Cyprus. DISY is represented to the summit by its new president, Annita Demetriou.

The President was expected to brief the members of the EPP on his proposals on the Cyprus problem, and was also going to have bilateral meetings with Weber and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

The summit of the European Council will begin shortly before noon with a working lunch for the 27, with the participation of the UNSG Antonio Guterres, which will focus on Ukraine, food security and climate change.
