The Commerce Ministry issued an 8-day decree for a ceiling in the retail price of three types of fuel with immediate effect.
According to Commerce Minister, Antonis Paschalides, the decree concerns oil 96 and 98 as well as diesel.
The ceiling of oil 95 has been set at €0.95 including the VAT, of oil 98 at €0.97 and of diesel at €0.975.
According to the Minister, the gas station owners have warned that if the decree is enforced, they will take drastic measures, including a strike.
Mr. Paschalides clarified, however, that he is willing to have a meeting with the gas station owners but under no threat or blackmail.
“The meeting of the Central Committee of the Gas Station Owners is now in progress. The meeting is expected to decide on the measures that will be taken as a reaction to the setting of the ceiling”, POVEK General Secretary, Stephanos Koursaris, told StockWatch.
