Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry is highly concerned about the latest downgrading of Cyprus in the global competitiveness index based on the rankings of the World Economic Forum and the World Competitiveness Index.
According to the results, Cyprus ranks 46th among 125 countries.
It is worth noting that Cyprus is even lower in the macroeconomic and innovation indexes.
CCCI reiterated that the state must take the proper measures for the strengthening/promotion of the sector of research and innovation and the safeguard of the macroeconomic stability.
Therefore, the Chamber supports the measures and drafts proposed by the Research Promotion Foundation for 2007-2013 and the need for co-funds from the structural funds.
“We hope that the measures will contribute to the competitiveness of the Cyprus companies and economy in general”, the announcement concluded.
