CAIR: Lufthansa interest is advisory

The involvement of German airline, Lufthansa, to Cyprus Airways via its special expertise service is purely advisory, Cyprus Airways Executive Chairman, Giorgos Mavrokostas stated from Thessaloniki today.

At the same time, he clarified that no specific proposal has been submitted by Triple Five so far.

Commenting on a report of a daily newspaper, Mr. Mavrokostas said that the contacts with Lufthansa have to do with the latter’s special advisory services on airlines.

“CAIR asked by the specific Lufthansa service to examine and submit proposals in relation to the rationalization of the flight schedule of the national carrier so as to be more effective”, he noted.

He made clear, however, that talks with Lufthansa are completely unrelated to any interest from this company in participating in the share capital of Cyprus Airways.

As for Triple Five, he said that it has showed a preliminary interest, as other investors have as well. “So far, no specific proposal has been submitted to create conditions for a formal proposal”, he concluded.
