The Cabinet yesterday gave the go-ahead to the Minister of Trade, Industry & Tourism Nicos Rolandis, to proceed with utilization of an additional CYP 5.5 million in support of the tourism product of Cyprus. The amount is to be used towards aircraft landing and boarding duties and will come into force upon approval of the proposal by the House of Representatives until the end of May 2002.
As a result, there is now a total of CYP 25.7 million available which will be used towards advertising and promotion of Cyprus as a safe destination as well as winter tourism. Approval for the additional funding came just in time to meet the deadline of 15 December set by tour operators for presentation of the new packages.
