Transport, Communications and Works Minister Marios Demetriades said on Friday that prospects are better today for the integrated commercial development of the port and the marina in Larnaca.
Replying to a question on the matter after a meeting he had with businesses operating in the port Demetriades expressed his conviction that “certainly prospects for the integrated developments of Larnaca port and marina are better because our economy has improved significantly.”
When a country`s economy is in good shape, it follows that this makes it easier for foreign investments, he pointed out.
“No-one would invest in your country if you are a state which has defaulted, because of concerns,” he added.
Already, Demetriades continued, “certain foreign investors have been attracted to our country in the context of the Limassol port process and other processes.”
“I wish to express my satisfaction because due to our economy`s improvement we see an increased interest by foreigners who wish to come and invest in our country in practical terms,” he noted.
According to the Cypriot official “what we need to do is to create an investment friendly environment because if we don`t they will go elsewhere.”
At the same time he assured that there is enough space for the Larnaca marina and the port, because it will combine both commercial and recreational activities.
