Banks Association: No pilferage done

The Cyprus Commercial Banks Association announced on Tuesday that no pilferage has been carried out by the electronic systems of its member banks and advised customers not to reveal their PIN numbers via the Internet, as several customers from Cyprus and Great Britain have been lately urged (via email) to register their subscriber number and PIN number on a specific website address.

The announcement issued by the Association is as follows:

The Cyprus Commercial Banks Association would like to inform the public that the following fraud has been pointed out for the past few days:

1.Customers of several Banks are receiving an email, which advises them to visit a specific website and register their subscriber number and PIN Number.

2.Customers are requested to be careful and not to reveal their personal numbers via Internet or email or in relation to any other electronic transaction. Please contact your Bank when receiving this type of emails to ascertain their genuineness.

3.No pilferage has been carried out by the Direct Banking systems of the Banks, members of the Association.
