The Bank of Japan said on Friday that it had decided to keep short term interest rates on hold, pointing to a moderate recovery in the economy but warning that there remained “high uncertainties”.

In a decision that was in line with the vast majority of forecasts in the market, the BoJ’s two-day monetary policy meeting ended in a unanimous vote to maintain the overnight call rate target at 0.25 per cent.
