A total of 23 bad cheques worth €72,185 were issued in September 2024, according to data published on Friday by the Central Bank of Cyprus.
The total number of legal and natural persons registered on the preliminary list of the Central Information Register (CIR) was 14, including 6 legal and 8 natural persons.
In the corresponding month of 2023, 26 cheques were registered, for a total value of €276,202.
During the period January - September 2024, 232 cheques with a total value of €492,677 were entered in the preliminary list of CIR, around half of the value of the 244 cheques in the same period last year, which came up to €970,120. The bounced cheques in the nine months of 2024 concerned 115 persons (75 legal entities and 40 individuals).
In addition, the number of persons registered in CIR reached 16 in September 2024, of which 4 are legal persons, 5 natural persons and 7 natural persons controlling legal entities.
In the nine months of 2024, a total of 163 persons were registered in CIR, compared to 207 persons in the corresponding period of 2023.
