In 2023, 356 bad cheques, of a value of €1,767,912 were issued and 231 persons (136 legal και 95 natural) were included in the preliminary Central Information Register (CIR) list of the Central Bank of Cyprus.
According to data released by the Central Bank on Wednesday the number of bad cheques issued in 2023 (356) was lower in relation to 2022 (473), 2021 (363) and 2020 (454).
However the total value of the cheques has risen. In particular, the preliminary data show that the in 2023 total cheques were issued for the amount of €1,767,912, in 2022 €1,518,669, in 2021 €933,945 and in 2020 €741,700.
The official data also show that the number of people registered in the CIR in 2023 were 274, 101 legal persons, 48 natural persons and 125 natural persons controlling legal entities.
In 2023, 274 people were registered in the CIR, compared to 255 in 2022, 79 in 2021 and 186 in 2020.
