The trading volume exceeded CYP 10 million
Hyper-gains +32 per cent for BOCw
The CSE general index recorded a new day of gains reaching 111.71 points and +5.3 per cent (!). Similarly, FTSE20 – mostly influenced by the banking sector that concentrated 35 percent of the total trading volume – climbed to 434 points and the remarkable +6.5 per cent.
The main characteristic of CSE’s climate of euphoria was the particularly heavy trading volume that totaled CYP 10.3 million surpassing the barrier of 10 million for the first time in 2002.
During today’s session, BOCw with 10.8 per cent of the total volume scrambled up 32.3 per cent to 59 cents, while the Bank of Cyprus with 23 per cent of today’s turnover soared 8.6 per cent or 13 cents and closed at CYP 1.64. DOD was the most marketable stock of the day attracting 24 per cent of the total trading volume, as a result of a transaction that amounted CYP 2.35 million or 40 million shares. The other daily volume leaders were the Popular Bank (8.4 per cent of the turnover) that ended 5.5 per cent or 7 cents higher to CYP 1.35 and the Hellenic Bank (4.4 per cent of the total volume) that rose 2.3 per cent and closed at 86 cents.
The financial sector was today’s major gainer, 9.5 per cent. Specifically, Prochoice with 0.1 per cent of the daily turnover jumped 29.8 per cent to 17 cents, SAFS with 1.6 per cent of the total volume closed 20.6 per cent higher at 12 .9 cents, while SFS and LI with 1.2 and 0.6 percent of the turnover, surged 15.5 and 14.3 per cent to 14.9 and 20 cents respectively.
Minerva, Cytrustees and Pandora were among the good performers of the day with gains of 15.7, 15.4 and 15 per cent respectively.
Overall, 99 securities went up, 29 fell and 16 remained unchanged
