The House Audit Committee’s talks on the transfer of natural gas to Cyprus continued on Tuesday, with DIKO MPs, Zacharias Koulias and Nicholas Papadopoulos criticizing strongly DISY President, Nicos Anastasiades, for pre-electoral expediency. Mr. Papadopoulos accused Mr. Anastasiades that his law office registered 250 companies, without revealing the names of their shareholders. “When Mr. Anastasiades’ offices follows this practice it is ok, when we do the same thing it is a scandal”, he said.
Mr. Anastasiades replied that he will prove the big scandal with the natural gas before the presidential election in February and urged Mr. Papadopoulos to withdraw from the session since he is neither a member of the Committee not he was invited.
Mr. Anastasiades also had a dispute with former Commerce Minister, Giorgos Lillikas and accused him that he gives answers only for facts that happened when Nicos Rolandis and Antonis Michaelides were Ministers and not when he ran the Ministry.
On the other hand, Mr. Lillikas said that he had submitted a timetable for the natural gas and this shows that there were no delays in the construction of overland terminal. He also said that he did not serve private interests and had no private meetings with any official.
As for AKEL, it is expected to send a letter to the Council of Ministers to change its decision on natural gas.
