The air-traffic controllers lifted their two scheduled flights for March 12 and 15 respectively.

In a letter to the authorities of the Larnaca and Paphos airports, their trade union announced that it will lift all strikes.

Hemes Airports spokesman, Adamos Aspris welcomed the decision and said that the flight schedules and the airports will return to normal operation.

It is noted that the Parliament approved yesterday the bill for the regulation of strikes in the air-traffic control service.

The bill provides for the regulation of the right to strike in services managing traffic flow so that the Republic complies with the obligations emerging from the EU regulation for the determination of common rules for managing air traffic flow, leaving Member States to ensure the continued smooth operation and management of air traffic flow.

It also secures the minimum maintenance of air link between Cyprus and other countries because of its particularity as an island.

The bill restricts the right to strike while the Republic will be pledged against the European Union to maintain 75% of the controllers’ work.

The interruption of works must not exceed two hours and must not affect more than eight flights.

The simultaneous closing of the Larnaca and Paphos airports is not allowed.
