Athens welcomed more than 73,000 runners from around the world on Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10 that visited Athens to participate in the Athens Authentic Marathon. AEGEAN, for another year, proudly sponsored the race and supported all those who took part as "Grand Sponsor of SEGAS" and "Sponsor of the Authentic Athens Marathon and Half Marathon". Since 2015, AEGEAN has been a key partner in this iconic, sporting event of our country, which brings together thousands of runners globally, while promoting Athens as an attractive destination for sports, tourism and cultural heritage.

AEGEAN also contributed to the vibrant atmosphere of the "Sponsors’ Village," where all visitors were invited to participate in a unique "collective marathon race" activation, covering the 42.2 kilometers of the marathon course. During the activation, 180 participants—representing the number of passengers on an AEGEAN flight—ran in succession on treadmills, aiming to complete the full marathon distance before the official event ended at 6:00 p.m. The participants had the opportunity to win free flight tickets and travel discounts in one of AEGEAN flights combining athletic achievement with the thrill of travel.

In parallel, AEGEAN's own running team was actively involved in the event, with 800 AEGEAN employees, friends, and family members of all ages participating in the 5km, 10km, and full 42km marathon races. Each runner was motivated to achieve personal goals, embodying AEGEAN’s commitment to the values of perseverance and endurance.

Since its inception, 25 years ago, AEGEAN remains focused in supporting all major events to be held in the city of Athens and across Greece that promote sports, culture and tourism, while creating new travel experiences.
