The design and implementation of targeted actions to address climate change is a priority for the government of Nikos Christodoulides as well as for the tourism industry, which has demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changes, said Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis.

Addressing on Thursday the 2nd conference on "Tourism in the era of climate change: Challenges and Innovations," supported by the President of the Republic, Koumis said that "the developmental path of tourism must continue, certainly with respect for the environment, recognising the responsibility we have to preserve our natural wealth and pass it on to future generations".

"The transition to sustainable practices and the integration of the circular economy are crucial steps to minimise the impacts of climate change and ensure a future that allows tourism to thrive without destroying the ecosystems that support us," he underlined.

According to Koumis, the government's goal is to mitigate the consequences and crises caused by climate change.

In this direction, he continued, actions and policies are being promoted in alignment with European and international guidelines and practices.
