The terminal for liquefied natural gas will be constructed in Cyprus and is assumed to be self-sufficient with the Cypriot deposits only, Foreign Minister Ioannis Cassoulides stated on Thursday, adding that anything extra is welcome and economically even more interest.

Speaking to reporters at the Presidential Palace, on the sidelines of the meeting of President Nicos Anastasiades with the Foreign Minister of New Zealand, Mr. Cassoulides, invited to say what’s the new data from Israel's decision to export 40% of gas of the country, he said that "the first step that we all expect, that is Israel's decision whether to make exports, is achieved."

"The next step will be Israel to decide the form of exports. We know that it will not be one. It will be more than one, one of which will surely be the export from LNG terminal. "

"It remains Israel to decide, after consultation with us, whether the terminal will be in Israel or whether they will try to seek the services of the terminal in Cyprus”.

Asked whether this development reinforces what we want, namely to create a terminal, Mr. Cassoulides stressed that "the terminal will constructed anyway. The terminal we assumed to be self-sufficient with the Cypriot deposits only. Anything extra is welcome and economically even more interest”.
