Despite the increase in tourist arrivals for October 2002 that stood at 257.840 against 269.744 in the corresponding month of 2001, revenues from tourism have declined by 1.69% last October compared to 2001. Specifically, total revenues for October 2002 reached CYP 128 million, against CYP 130 million for October 2001.

According to CYSTAT, in the period January-October 2002, total revenues fell by 12.42% to CYP 1.05 billion, compared to CYP 1.19 billion in 2001.

It is noted that tourist arrivals in Cyprus for October 2002 reached 275.840 against 269.744 in 2001, while in the period January – October arrivals fell to 2.229.084 against 2.514.387 in the same period of 2001. Tourist arrivals for the full year 2002 declined by 10.3% to 2.412.237 compared to 2.696.732 in 2001.

The publication of revenue statistics for the tourist industry lags behind the publication of arrival statistics.
