No major problems have been observed in Cyprus in relation with the global technical outage, a source of the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy told CNA on Friday.
A technical outage associated a cybersecurity tool on Microsoft software has caused havoc in airports and other critical infrastructure such as telecommunications, rail and banks all over the world.
“As a central state we have not been affected and we have examined the situation in critical infrastructure and no impact has been recorded,” an official of the Deputy Ministry told CNA, adding that only the customer service of Cyta, the state-owned telecommunications provider has been affected.
“We are monitoring the developments and nothing major has been recorded so far,” the same official added.
In a post on “X” Cyta said the technical outage has affected its online customer support centre, its digital channels and shops which are not operable at the present stage.
Initial information showed that the disruption in IT systems globally was cause by software update from cybersecurity company CrowdStrike which caused a clash on Microsoft Windows software.
