Tourism Minister: Food and Wine sector among our priorities

Deputy Minister for Tourism Costas Koumis assured the Deputy Ministry has the sectors of wine and gastronomy among its priorities.

According to a press release issued by the Deputy Ministry, Koumis on Thursday held a series of meetings with associations operating in the food and wine sectors, sectors that are considered among the country’s comparative advantages, he said.

Koumis, accompanied by the Deputy Ministry’s Permanent Secretary and other Ministry officials, met with Cyprus Chefs Association, the Cyprus Bartenders Association and the Cyprus Oenophile Association.

“The Deputy Minister assured the associations that the sector of winery and gastronomy is among the Deputy Ministry’s priorities, as it among the country’s comparative advantages,” the press release added.

He added that what is needed is a better coordination in the provision of gastronomy services, coordinated actions in training and a better promotion and called on all stakeholders to submit proposals aiming to further upgrade and showcase the Cypriot food and wine sector.
