Ministry of Agriculture announced on Monday that e-kofini application is available on all mobile devices and offers access to the Fruit and Vegetable Price Observatory to all consumers.
The announcement pointed out that the app will contribute to transparency and fair pricing in the market, strengthening the relationship of trust between producers, traders and consumers.
“e-kofini” provides immediate information on the average prices of basic local fruit and vegetable products, both at the producer and retail level, contributing to the reduction of the difference between production and sale prices, the Ministry said.
It also allows users to monitor price fluctuations over the past months, it added.
Consumers can also find prices by visiting the website www.e-kofini.gov.cy.
Agriculture Minister, Maria Panayiotou, said that e-kofini is an important tool in an attempt to reduce the price gap between producers and consumers. Speaking to the press during a visit to a local market in Larnaka, on Monday, ahead of the Christmas celebrations, she said that the government supports consumers and this support is targeted and specific.
She said that measures announced in support of vulnerable groups amounted to more than five hundred million euro. Panayiotou added that the number of beneficiaries for the Christmas package has increased by 40,000 people, while the beneficiaries are 100,000 in total.
The Minister also referred to the support of the primary sector as regards infrastructure.
