CySTAT reports economic indicators increase from January to October 2024

The Statistical Service recorded an increase in several economic indicators in its bimonthly "Monthly Economic Developments" bulletin for the period January-October 2024, which was released on Thursday.

In particular, it is stated that the manufacturing production in the period January-September 2024 recorded an increase of 3.3% compared to the period January-September 2023.

Similarly, the total area of authorized building permits reached 1,627.5 thousand square meters in the January-June 2024 period, an increase of 46.5% compared to the same period last year.

Regarding the total motor vehicle registrations, it is noted that they recorded an 11.5% increase, reaching 42,930 during the January-October 2024 period. More specifically, private saloon cars increased to 29,588, recording a rise of 15.8%, and light trucks increased to 3,855, recording a rise of 34.2% compared to the January-October 2023 period.

Furthermore, it is stated that tourist arrivals amounted to 3,727,196 in the period January-October 2024, compared to 3,562,417 in the corresponding period of 2023, recording an increase of 4.6%.

An exception to the aforementioned trends concerned the total imports of goods, which amounted to €9,758.1 million for the period January-October 2024, recording a decrease of 12.3%, and the total exports of goods, which amounted to €3,383.7 million, also recording a decrease of 5.3%.

The Service also provides data on the Consumer Price Index, which, as noted, increased by 1.8% in the January-October 2024 period, compared to the same period last year.
