Cyprus and China will soon sign two new Cooperation Protocols for the export of fishery products and fish farming products and honey from Cyprus to China.
The decision was taken during a meeting held on Thursday between Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Petros Xenophontos and Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cyprus Liu Yantao.
According to an official press release, during the meeting, they confirmed the long-standing excellent relations between the two countries and discussed ways to further strengthen their close cooperation.
During the meeting, they decided that the two countries will soon sign two new Cooperation Protocols for the export of fishery products and fish farming products and honey from Cyprus to China.
It is noted that the signing of these Protocols is the culmination of many years of efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment to strengthen the commercial relations of the two countries and is expected to create new commercial prospects for the two products.
Cyprus has similar Cooperation Protocols for dairy products and citrus fruits. Cyprus currently exports to China halloumi, fruit juices as well as wine and zivania. The Ambassador of China, thanked the Minister for the constructive meeting, and assured of the continuation of close cooperation between Cyprus and China in matters of agriculture, rural development and the environment.
