Cypriot health authorities on Sunday reported two deaths due to COVID-19 and 2,853 new cases, bringing the total tally of deaths and infections since the outbreak of the pandemic to 942 and 439,802 respectively.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Health, hospitalisations rose to 203, while patients treated in serious condition in Intensive Treatment Units and Advance Care Units stands at 27.
A total of 78.818 tests were carried out, with the overall daily positivity rate at 3.62%.
According to the Ministry, the new fatalities concern two women, 87 and 76 years old who passed away today.
Data show that 55,67% of the patients treated in public hospitals have no vaccination history, while 14 post-COVID patients who are no longer infectious are intubated in serious condition in Intensive Treatment Units.
According to the Ministry, PCR tests amounted to 2,603 detecting 144 positive cases with a positivity rate of 5.53%, while rapid antigen tests amounted to 76,215 after which 2,709 new infections were diagnosed, resulting in a positivity rate of 3.55%.
In the context of contact tracing 82 new cases were diagnosed following 959 rapid antigen tests with a positivity rate of 8.55%.
As part of private initiative, 1,399 PCR tests were carried detecting 83 new cases (5.93%), whereas 27.735 rapid antigen tests were conducted, after which 1,190 new cases were diagnosed (4.29%).
In the context of the Ministry of Health’s testing programmes using rapid antigen tests, a total of 48,480 samples were taken detecting 1,519 new infections.
