Authorities in Cyprus announced 107 COVID-19 cases on Monday, after conducting 3,979 laboratory tests in the past 24 hours. The majority are contacts of confirmed cases.
An announcement by the Ministry of Health says that 73 cases were detected after testing 369 samples as part of contacts tracing, 6 cases were confirmed after 159 people tested on a private initiative, 9 cases were detected after testing 155 samples in Microbiology Labs, 2 cases were found from 252 samples from referrals form GPs, 8 positive samples were discovered from 776 samples from passengers, 3 cases were detected from 107 samples from nursing homes.
Also one case was found after testing in Limassol District 719 samples from employees and another case was detected from 435 samples taken in Paphos District from employees exempt from a travel ban due to local lockdowns in both districts. Moreover, two cases were detected after testing in Nicosia District 646 samples from employees, exempt from the travel ban to and from Limassol and Paphos Districts. Two people were found positive from 61 samples taken at the village of Arsos.
The total number of COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic rose to 7,285.
Moreover, 55 patients who are positive to SARS-CoV-2 are hospitalised at Famagusta General Hospital, six of them at the Advanced Care Unit. Nine patients are treated at Nicosia General Hospital ICU, there of them without being intubated. Another 11 patients are treated in a COVID-19 ward at the same hospital.
