The Commission for the Protection of Competition decided to launch an ex officio investigation against Cyta.
The decision was taken unanimously by the CPC members at a meeting held on Thursday and provides for the conduct of an ex officio investigation against Cyta and Forthnet SA and/or Multichoice Hellas SA.
The CPC will examine the possible violation of Articles 3 and/or 6 of the Law as well as articles 101 and/or 102 of the EU Treaty to investigate the cooperation of Cyta and Forthnet SA and/or Multichoice Hellas SA in relation to their agreement for the disposal of the content of Nova Cyprus satellite platform via Cytavision and/or their action separately as a result of this cooperation in the sector of pay channels/TV rights/TV content on pay TV.
Within the framework of the investigation, the Commission gave instructions to the service to carry out preliminary investigation.
The Commission stressed the need to investigate issues of potential business cooperation with a strong position and importance in the pay television and / or distribution of television content and the consequences of such collaborations.
