Attempts by hackers to breach the website of Hermes Airports, the operator of Cyrpus Airports in Larnaca and Paphos, were successfully countered, according to Director of Aviation Development and Communications at Hermes Maria Kouroupi. Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), Kouroupi confirmed that airport operations were not disrupted, as the Hermes website was not connected to the airport's operational systems.
"There were indeed attempts targeting our website, but these were effectively handled through the security measures we have in place," she said when asked about reports suggesting a hacking attempt on Larnaca Airport systems. She emphasized that the website serves as an information platform and is separate from the airport’s critical systems, ensuring that none of the services provided at the airport were impacted by the cyber attack.
Kouroupi added that while the website was temporarily taken offline as a precaution, online parking reservations at the airport were unavailable for a short period. Nonetheless, she reiterated that the core functions of the airport remained fully operational throughout the incident.
