Eurogroup President, Jeroen Dijsselbloem expressed Eurogroup’s readiness to support Cyrus when necessary, during his meeting with the President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades at the presidential palace.

After the meeting Mr. Dijsselbloem told the press that “it was a very good meeting. “Of course we met a year ago when we had to take the very difficult decisions for Cyprus”, he said.

“But a lot of work has been done over the year and I complemented the President and his government for all the work that has been done. We stand ready from the Eurogroup to support Cyprus when necessary. It was a very good meeting”, he added.

Cyprus received financial support of €10 billion in 2013, imposing a bail-in to the uninsured depositors of Bank of Cyprus and Cyprus Popular Bank.

Since then, Cyprus has received positive assessments for the course of the program, with its banking sector, however, remaining wounded by the March 2013 decisions.
