The Council of Ministers decided on Thursday to revoke Malaysian Jho Low's Cypriot citizenship.
A reliable source told CNA that when at the end of March the government saw that there was insufficient evidence to revoke the citizenship of the Malaysian wanted person, the Ministry of Interior contacted Interpol to gather the necessary evidence.
The same source told CNA that once the information was received, the Ministry of the Interior forwarded the issue to the Cabinet, which decided on Thursday to revoke Jho Low's citizenship.
Low is wanted for his involvement in the siphon of more than $4.5 billion from Malaysia's state investment fund 1MDB in 2015.
