Building permits issued in the period of January – September 2021 rose by an annual 18% with the value marking a drop of 4.6% year on year.
According to data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat) building permits issued by the Municipal Authorities and the District Administration Offices for the period of January – September 2021 amounted to 6,008 marking an increase of 17.7% compared with 5,106 the respective period of last year.
The number of housing units recorded an increase of 13.8%, Cystat added.
Total value amounted to €1.87 billion, marking a drop of 4.6% year on year while the total area of the building permits issued marked an increase of 7.6% year on year.
All districts recorded annual increase in the period of January – September. Larnaca registered the highest rise with 44% year on year, followed by Pafos with 27.3%, Limassol with 13.7%, Nicosia with 10.17% and Famagusta with 3.25%.
In September building permits amounted to 768 marking an increase of 11.3% year on year.
The total value of these permits reached €206.2 million and the total area 210.7 thousand square metres, while the permits provide for the construction of 907 housing units, Cystat added.
