SEK to claim more benefits

30/09/2004 14:14
The recent statements of the SEK General Secretary, Demetris Kittenis, have changed the scenery of the renewal of the union contracts in the semi-governmental organizations.

Mr. Kittenis clarified that the trade union will claim more benefits for its members in the semi-governmental organizations, stressing that the government’s proposal is not the solution for the renewal of the union contracts. “SEK and the other sectoral trade unions will claim more benefits and will submit their requests”, Mr. Kittenis noted, stressing, however, that SEK is aware of the island’s fiscal problems and its claims are moving towards this direction.

The statements were made within the framework of the Press Conference on the occasion of 60 years from the establishment of the trade union. Mr. Kittenis praised the role of SEK in the past 60 years, which contributed to the improvement of the standards of living of the labour class.
