The Competition Protection Committee is expected to be extremely busy in 2004, as there is a plethora of cases pending from last year, while the hearing process for certain exceptionally difficult cases will start within the next few weeks.
According to official data obtained by StockWatch, there are 14 pending cases before the Committee, seven of which are still in the stage of investigation. Three out of seven charges are lodged by Golden Telemedia, AvacomNet and Callsat Telecom Ltd against CYTA.
Among the seven cases that are on the hearing process before the CPC, it is the investigation against certain banks accused for a ‘cartel’ and the charges lodged by ANT1 TV station against Lumiere and the Cyprus Football Association.
The Committee reserves its decision for a case concerning the charges of the Authorized Representatives of the Horse Racing Betting Association against a Nicosia horse racing Club.
