The Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) and the Greek Energy Exchange Group (EnExGroup) signed on Thursday, at the Presidential Palace, in Nicosia, a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki and Director of the President's Office Charalambos Charalambous.
The MoU was signed by Chairman of CSE Marinos Christodoulides and CEO of EnExGroup Alexandros Papageorgiou who noted that they aim to support the Cypriot market achieve its goals related to the green transition.
Papageorgiou said that the Memorandum of Understanding concerns the purchase of certificates of origin, as well as how there can be better cooperation "to organize and manage these markets together."
He added that the energy markets are European markets, and that "in Europe the organization and management of these markets has already created many opportunities to accelerate the green transition and support investments in the green sector."
"We are here today to support with our own means the Cypriot market in reaching the goals it has set" he went on to say.
Meanwhile, Christodoulides said that before the signing ceremony the CSE held its monthly meeting together with the Board of Directors of EnExGroup.
According to a press release by the CSE, the agreement falls within the broader strategy of the CSE for the development of its new activities, markets, products and services, with an emphasis on the energy sector.
