The consumer demand is still marginal in 2011.
According to Cystat data released today, the Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade is estimated to have recorded an increase of 3.2% in April 2011 compared to the corresponding month of 2010.
In March, the drop reached 5.8% against an initial forecast for a drop of 5.3%.
The increases/decreases in March and April are possibly attributable to the fact that the Easter holidays were earlier last year.
For the period January-April 2011, the Index is provisionally estimated to have an increase of 0,3% compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
