- Interactive workshop for families "Camel Camelari, let's go to Varosha"
I sing and illustrate the traditional songs of my country
The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation's series of events "Moments at the Museum '24" launches this year's activities with the interactive workshop for families "Camila Kamilari, let's go to Varosha", on Sunday 13 October at 11:00.
Through an activity inspired by the island's music and the museum's collections, we invite children and their families to get to know, sing and illustrate the traditional children's songs of our island.
Together with the musical group ANTAMA we will discover the traditional musical instruments of our country. We will get to know the violin, the lute, the tabouchia, the pitchiawli, we will recognize what materials they are made of, as well as which category each one belongs to. We will get to know the rhythms of our folk music through active music games. The audience will have the opportunity to hear and sing traditional songs and arrangements such as "Pyri pyri to papyrus", "Camel camel", "Chibi chibi to aito" etc.
The participants will have the opportunity to express their imagination and be inspired by making images and improvised musical instruments that will reflect their impressions and experiences from this musical tour. The animator visual artist Irini Zenonos will encourage the children, together with their parents, to illustrate performances inspired by these traditional songs.
