The Cyprus University of Technology, represented by Dr. Angelos Kassianos (Director of the Behavioral Science in Health [BSiH] Lab), Ms. Marianna Koutsantoni (Research Associate in the Behavioral Science in Health [BSiH] Lab), and Dr. Koralia Michail, all from the Department of Nursing, participated in a joint training activity in Slovenia for the project “GreenTouch: EcoMind Development for Higher Education Future.” The project, coordinated by Rīga Stradiņš University in Latvia, will run for three years (2024–2027) and is funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ programme with a budget of €250,000.

From October 2 to October 4, 2024, the University of Maribor's Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in Slovenia hosted a joint training activity, a key event for the project, organized by Dr. Ines Kožuh. The event brought together all associated partners—Cyprus University of Technology (Cyprus), Rīga Stradiņš University (Latvia), Forest Therapy Hub (Portugal), and the University of Maribor (Slovenia)—to:

  • develop competencies to address EcoMind development in teaching and research;
  • provide green skills training through participation in wilderness hackathons; and
  • contribute to the development of the GreenTouch digital tool and enhance staff competencies to address students' mental well‐being using EcoMind‐based solutions.

Highlights of the event included a hands‐on wilderness hackathon, featuring activities in nature designed to inspire both the technical and content development of the GreenTouch digital tool. Participants visited locations such as Terme Olimia, Olimje Monastery, Jelenov Greben, and the tourist farm Pomona, engaging with natural sounds, scents, and environments to deepen their understanding of nature therapy and sustainable education.

The project is a forward‐thinking collaboration aimed at developing digital and green capabilities within higher education systems.
