Top international business school, Cranfield School of Management, in partnership with IKOS, a leading Global Hedge Fund, is delighted to announce the launch of the IKOS Scholarship, designed to enable a number of Cypriot nationals to study the one year full-time MBA programme at Cranfield.
The IKOS Scholarship covers all tuition fees for the full-time MBA of (£28,000/€35,200) and also provides (£5,000/€6,300) towards living expenses. Each annual scholarship will be awarded to a Cypriot candidate who can demonstrate significant career success to date and is able to achieve Cranfield’s entrance requirements. The IKOS Scholarship also includes incentives to encourage the IKOS Scholars to return and work in Cyprus.
The IKOS Scholarship scheme, which will initially run for five years, has been made possible by Cranfield alumna and Greek national, Elena Ambrosiadou. Elena is co-founder of the IKOS hedge fund group and ranked among the most influential women in the European Hedge Fund Industry. Elena gained her Cranfield MBA in 1988 and was awarded Distinguished Alumna of the Year last year by the School.
Director of Cranfield School of Management, Professor Michael Osbaldeston said: “Cranfield is enormously grateful to IKOS and Elena for their generosity in funding this significant scholarship. It will greatly encourage students from Cyprus to attend our prestigious MBA programme, which is one of the top ranked programmes globally, and will allow them to share in the knowledge base that has helped build successful companies such as IKOS.
Elena Ambrosiadou said: “This series of IKOS scholarships at Cranfield is an important initiative that builds upon the long-standing cultural, commercial and historical connection between the UK and Cyprus, aiming to return economic and educational benefits to both countries. We at IKOS recruit highly qualified professionals in their respective fields, and are thus keen to promote educational programmes to help increase the number of such professionals in both the UK and Cyprus. I hope that knowledge of this programme will encourage other international companies to help enrich Cyprus’ business talent and further enable the country’s development into an important regional and international business centre within the European Union. Cranfield has an international reputation for excellence and I am delighted to support the school that taught me so much at the start of my career."
The Finance Minister of Cyprus, Mr Charilaos Stavrakis said “ As we strive to enhance the role of Cyprus as an international financial centre within the European Union, we fully support the initiative taken by IKOS, which augments the opportunities offered to the people of Cyprus to enhance their skills base and help to achieve this goal.”
The deadline for scholarship applications is 14 July for the 2008/09 programme. The successful candidate will be informed in August.
