The new Cystat data show that the conditions in the labour market continue to deteriorate.
The unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of March 2011, reached 28.401 persons against 29,806 in February 2011 and 24,336 in March 2010.
Based on the seasonally adjusted data that shows the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for March 2011 recorded a small increase of 0,9% compared to the previous month and reached 26.087 persons from 25,844 in February 2011 and 22,424 in March 2010.
In comparison with March 2010, an increase of 4.065 persons or 16,7% was recorded which was mainly observed in the sectors of trade (an increase of 1.058 unemployed persons), accommodation and food service activities (an increase of 793), construction (an increase of 610), manufacturing (an increase of 391), education (an increase of 325), transportation and storage (an increase of 287), as well as to newcomers in the labour market where an increase of 1.096 unemployed persons was recorded.
Most unemployed were observed in the sector of cleaners, messengers and unspecialized workers (6,773), followed by the service employees and the sellers (5,910), the typists, secretaries and cashiers (3,972) and the production technicians (3,865).
The newcomers in the labour market in March reached 3,183 persons.
Most unemployed are of 30-39 years old (6,917), followed by those of 40-49 (6,150).
As for their education, most unemployed are secondary education graduates (12,228).
