CYTA requested by the Competition Protection Committee on Wednesday an individual exemption on the agreement for the distribution of LTV and the agreement on the launch of a TV platform dated 22/6/2006.
Pursuant o the provisions of article 16(5) of the Competition Protection Law 207/89, the Committee announced that if any third party would like to state his/her remarks on CYTA’s application, he/she may do so within the period of seven days from the release of the announcement.
It is worth noting that CYTA submitted to CPC information and additional data on the agreements above.
In his statements to StockWatch, CYTA Deputy Higher Executive Director, Fotis Savvides explained the reasons why CYTA submitted the aforementioned documents; “We believe that the agreement provisions are in line with the law. But even if some of them are not, we need an exemption for a while, since the broadband services are new in the Cyprus market”, he concluded.
