Marfin: Information for the absorbed capital from the issue of capital securities 2008

In accordance to the provisions of the Regulatory Clause 5.2.5. of Cyprus Stock Exchange, Marfin Popular Bank Public Co Ltd, announces the following, regarding the way the funds that were raised through the issue of capital securities during 2008 were utilised:
α) On 17 March 2008 the Board of Directors of the Bank approved the issue of capital securities up to €200 million. During the first Tranche on 14 April 2008 116.159 capital securities of nominal value €1.000 have been issued, which were offered to a limited group of individuals, professional investors and to individuals who invested at least €50.000 each, raising €116.159.000. During the second Tranche on 30 June 2008 83.841 capital securities of nominal value €1.000 have been issued, which were offered to the public through a Public Offer raising €83.841.000.
β) The above amounts were used to enhance the capital base of the Group and were included in its Hybrid Tier I Capital, as quoted in the Prospectus dated 06/06/2008 and its Supplement dated 03/11/2008.

During the first Tranche on 14 April 2008 116.159 capital securities of nominal value €1.000 have been issued, which were offered to a limited group of individuals, professional investors and to individuals who invested at least €50.000 each, raising €116.159.000. During the second Tranche on 30 June 2008 83.841 capital securities of nominal value €1.000 have been issued, which were offered to the public through a Public Offer raising €83.841.000.
β) The above amounts were used to enhance the capital base of the Group and were included in its Hybrid Tier I Capital, as quoted in the Prospectus dated 06/06/2008 and its Supplement dated 03/11/2008.
