Marketrends Financial Services Ltd. announced that during its Board meeting of the 12 June 2001, Dr. Stelios Koiliaris was appointed Director and elected Chairman of the Board with effect from the 18 June 2001.
Dr. Koiliaris is considered a successful business director in Cyprus with long experience both in Cyprus and abroad, expected to contribute greatly to the Group’s expansion of operations both locally and internationally.
Dr. Stelios Koiliaris studied economics at the Athens University and holds an MA and Ph.D from the University of Essex. He worked for 11 years with the Ministry of Finance, leaving in 1989 from his position as Finance Director on matters of macroeconomic policies and financial studies. Dr. Koiliaris has held the position of Director of Euroinvestment & Merchant Finance and later General Manager of the Louis group of companies. In February 1993 he was appointed Trade, Industry & Tourism Minister, with duties as Vice Finance Minister between March to June 1994.
In May 1995 he resumed his position as General Manager of the Louis group and thereafter Managing Director of Louis Cruise Lines Ltd. and its NASDAQ listed company Royal Olympic Cruise Lines Inc. He now serves as Executive Director in the aforementioned companies and as Director in a number of others of the Louis group.
Dr. Koiliaris is member of the Executive Committee of the Employers & Industrialists Federation and has served as Chairman or Board member of a large number of companies, semi-government organisations and of foreign companies.
