CPB: Lapse of the agreement for the sale of shares in Universal Life to Aspis Group

The Cyprus Popular Bank Ltd (Laiki Bank) announces that the preliminary joint agreement reached with the Bank of Cyprus Group for the sale to the Greek Aspis Group of the 35% share capital of the company Universal Life Insurance Co Ltd, which is currently owned by the Laiki Bank has not been completed and expired on 31 December 2005.
